BizWorld Foundation Featured at the 4th Annual Hedge Fund Industry Awards

John Angelo Interviews the BizKids
This June the BizWorld Foundation staff traveled to New York City where the Foundation was honored as the featured charity at Institutional Investor’s 4th Annual Hedge Fund Industry Awards. While guests of the event wined and dined, BizWorld students from New York’s Bronx Preparatory Charter School and P.S. 173 were on hand to perform their commercials and answer questions from special guest, John Angelo, CEO of Angelo, Gordon and Co, and a BizWorld New York Advisory Council Member, who quizzed them about their business practices.

As part of the event, the BizWorld Foundation also held a silent auction to benefit the BizWorld programs, raising money to support program expansion.

VROOOOOM! Companies Race to Put Education in the Pole Position at BizWorld’s Sixth Annual Grand Prix

Track Sponsor Optionetics' Tony Clemendor with his team, "Fast Money
John Jinishian and Ed Chang of Citigroup take home the gold.
Raising nearly $100,000 in support of BizWorld programs around the country, the BizWorld Foundation held its sixth annual Grand Prix event this May in Silicon Valley, CA. Bringing together members of the Bay Area business community the event showcased BizWorld’s latest local and national achievements and continues to serve as the Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser.

While some guests tried their luck at the casino gaming tables, the real focus was on race, which turned out to be the Foundation’s closest Grand Prix yet. Beating out last year’s champions, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, who came in second, the Citigroup Speed Racers raced to the finish two seconds ahead of their competition! Rounding out the winner’s circle was Grand Prix veteran, Franklin Templeton, who took home the bronze.

Congratulations, Citigroup, on your first Grand Prix victory!

BizWorld Program Coordinator, Kerry O'Keefe, teaches students business basics
This summer the BizWorld Foundation teamed up with the Money Camp program to promote financial literacy awareness for students in the San Francisco Bay Area. As part of the intitiative, BizWorld Program Coordinator, Kerry O'Keefe, taught students an abridged BizWorld program and spoke to them about the importance of learning how to manage their money.

"Showing students how to manage money by allowing them to start and run a business is an extremely engaging way to teach these core concepts and plays on the students' different strengths and interests," noted Kerry. "Entrepreneurship education was a great addition to the Money Camp program," she continued.

This was the first joint venture between Money Camp and the BizWorld Foundation.
