Inspires Professionals at Bearing Point |
BearingPoint,
one of the world’s largest business consulting and systems
integration firms, recently hosted a BizWorld Training session in
their Mountain View office for their Bay Area personnel. Employees
participated in a two-hour BizWorld game as they played the roles
of budding entrepreneurs in the friendship bracelet industry. BearingPoint
volunteers will now teach children in underserved schools in their
local communities about business using the BizWorld program.
Arun Kumar, a managing director with BearingPoint, remarked, “We
used BizWorld as an activity to bring our colleagues together in
a fun, interactive setting. The game was a great team-building event
that ignited everyone’s passion for their jobs. The game also
reinforced our core purpose, too – empowering businesses to
turn their dreams into realities. BizWorld programs can instill
such attitudes in young people, and this plays into all of our interests!
We are very excited to be “BizWorld Certified” to bring
the program to our children. We now look forward to transferring
our finance, supply chain and customer management skills to a new
set of young ‘clients’ – the schoolchildren who
will learn how business works.”
Do you want to bring BizWorld to your company? To host
a BizWorld Training, led by volunteers and BizWorld staff, please

Alan
Greenspan on about education like BizWorld:
"The importance
of basic financial skills underscores the need to begin the learning
process as early as possible. Indeed, improving basic financial
education at the elementary and secondary school level will provide
a foundation of financial literacy that can help prevent younger
people from making poor decisions that can take years to overcome.
In particular, it has been my experience that competency in mathematics--both
in numerical manipulation and in understanding the conceptual foundations--enhances
a person's ability to handle the more ambiguous and qualitative
relationships that dominate our day-to-day financial decision making.
For example, through an understanding of compounding interest, one
can appreciate the cumulative benefit of routine saving. Similarly,
learning how to conduct research in a library or on the Internet
helps one find information to enhance decision-making. Focusing
on improving fundamental mathematical and problem-solving skills
can develop knowledgeable consumers who can take full advantage
of the sophisticated financial services offered in an ever-changing
marketplace."
